Cheryl Denise Kazee

Cheryl Denise Hill-Kazee passed away on Thursday May 28, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born in Ashland, KY on May 1, 1956. Cheryl graduated from Paul G. Blazer High School in 1974. She was an inspiring woman who gave her love, time, and wisdom to her family, friends and all that met her. Cheryl had a very loving, maternal nature as shown by all the children she cared for and helped rear throughout her life. She maintained a youthful outlook, always viewing the world with an open mind. Cheryl loved music and had an eclectic taste ranging from Mozart to Motorhead and everything in between. One of her favorite bands was Devo, who she got to see in concert with her son, the summer before her passing. Cheryl loved creating and sharing her interests and hobbies with her family, some of which were needlework, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and knitting. She delighted in teaching anybody and imparted her wisdom wherever she could. She enjoyed talking about big ideas, having deep conversations, especially fostering critical thinking in all her littles. Cheryl was mischievous and whimsical and did her best to cultivate these traits in others. When she got sick with chronic fatigue syndrome she jokingly said they quit letting her out because of the mischief she caused. She wouldn't be constrained by debilitation or chronic pain and persevered with a smile on her face. Keeping family traditions alive was extremely important to her and these traditions created lasting memories for those close to her. Of all her endearing qualities, most of all, Cheryl was just downright loveable. She is survived by her son, Eric Kazee; daughter-in-law, Bridgette Porter-Kazee, and two grandsons, Jude and Ezra Kazee; her sister, Sheena Hill; niece, Athena Daugherty Roar and her husband, Mathew Marvin; her nephew, Ryan Daugherty, and grand-nieces, Rhianna Roar and Madison Daugherty, along with grand-nephews, Luke Roar, Alex Daugherty, and Ayden Roar. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved aunt, Mary Williams. She is preceded in death by her mother, Edna Smith-Bryan, step-dad, Howard Bryan Jr., and her father, Dallace Hill. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 4 pm at 1536 Winchester Ave, Ashland, KY 41101, at the Camayo Arcade, in the Camayo Room. The venue is handicap accessible.
