Loretta Katherine Mohr Campbell

Loretta Katherine Mohr Campbell, born September 18, 1931, in Ironton, OH was called home to heaven peacefully on February 1, 2026. She graduated from Ironton HS, a proud member of the class of 1949. Following graduation, she was employed as a retail clerk at JCPenney and then a telephone operator at Ma Bell. She retired from Armco (where she met her husband Roy of 47 years) after 30 years of service. Loretta went by many names - Mom, Mammaw, G’MA, Aunt, “Petey”, Friend, Leader, and most importantly, a Child of God. She was strong in her faith and lived a life that reflected her love for God and her love for others. Loretta never knew a stranger and always showed up for the people around her with a helping hand and a hug. Loretta will be remembered for many things - her CCR hugs, her many years with the Girl Scouts (in various positions including her summer lifeguard position at 70 plus years of age), her kind and helpful ways, and her hard work and dedication. She also loved her Kentucky Wildcats, March Madness, and Cincinnati Bengals. Loretta never met a sweet treat that she didn’t like, and she especially loved her dark chocolate (the darker the better) and her Austin’s grape pineapple ice cream. She loved swimming and anything water related, especially the beautiful ocean. She even went tubing down the river at 90 years old. She loved to travel and had her trips of a lifetime to Australia and The Rose Bowl, plus countless adventures in the RV back in the day. She loved to play BUNCO, cards, and dominoes with her friends and family. Most of all, she will be remembered for her love of God, family, and friends. She is a daughter of the late Wilbur S. and Katherine B. Mohr. In addition to her parents Loretta is preceded in death by her husband Roy Campbell; two sisters, Margaret Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Mohr; two brothers, Jack Mohr and Pidge Mohr; and her nephew James “Bud” Thompson. Surviving Loretta is her daughter, Mary (Jim) Strauser; two granddaughters, Jen (Andy) Auel and Leslie Newland; four great grandchildren, Carter Newland, Justin Newland, Jonathan Auel and Judah Auel; two nieces, Mickey Mohr and Marcia Mohr; and all of her extended family, friends and church family at Raceland Christian Church. Funeral services for Loretta will be held Saturday February 7, 2026, at 11:30 am at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, KY. Officiating the services are Brother Jason Lykins, Brother Greg Denton, and Brother Brent Baker. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Russell, KY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ Centered Recovery at Raceland Christian Church.
